May Committee News

19 May by Tim Conlan

This is a brief summary of the committee meeting held on Monday 18th May 2026.
Minutes will be released at a later date.

Tuesday session
After discussion the Committee decided to keep theTuesday slot as it is, the likelihood of getting the same pitch at the same time was unlikely. The risk of cancellation will remain given the number of Tuesday league fixtures.

Mens Training session
The Thursday morning 10am-11am will now be a training slot for all those playing in the EWFL. Micky Howard and Matt Westfall will run the sessions.

League News
The women's team remain in their regular third place in both Leagues. The Club will give financial support to the party playing in the WFA National over60s competition, with the final amount to be decided. . The Sunday sessions have brought in some new players and consideration needs to be given to the future of this slot.

For the men, the over50s Reds and over60s are doing well in their leagues, over65s Whites are close to the top of the division, whilst the over65s Reds are struggling with the transition to a higher standard of football. The over70s teams are looking likely to be midtable this year. The over50s whites have just started their campaign but face an ever changing fixture programme. It is encouraging that some new members have made their debut for over50s Whites.
The Club has entered the over50s and over60s FA Walking Football Cup and need players to sign up. Details on the app.

Tours
Mallorca and Vienna were both considered great successes. There is considerable interest in returning to Mallorca and an expression of interest will be posted on the app. Currently the Club does not have any hotel cost details but want to be in a position to act quickly once details are circulated to secure a hotel closer to the venue.
Northern Ireland. The Club has been in contact with Bambridge WFC over a potential trip to Belfast in mid-October. More details, hopefully in the next few weeks.

Finance
The Club is going into a period with considerable expenditure with the FA Affiliation (£380) needing to be paid and new battery and pads for the defibrillator (£450). To help balance the books there will be charge for the Dave Knight Cup of £5 per player.

Club Trophies
Finally, the Club will explore with Leyton Orient Trust having a small section of the newly opened Leyton Orient Museum for some trophies and other memorabilia.
