An odd afternoon’s football with most of the real drama occurring before kick off Skipper Tongue failed a late fitness test and decided to only be named as an emergency sub. The ever dependable Jon Barrick was summoned from the whites and the team was up to strength. Next the news that Cheshunt were not coming. It turned out that Harlow had also been let down so a third game was arranged.
On to the actual football. First up were Eastwood Falcons Blue, the stronger of the two Eastwood teams. Is started with Weston in goal, Mullins at the back, a midfield of Cox, Stevenson and Skaith, and Ridley up front. Their attacking combination looked strong and sure enough their striker got away and chipped a swiftly advancing Weston in goal only to be brought back for running. The game continued with both teams probing until Ridley gained half a yard and drilled the ball home at the near post. In the second half Barrick replaced Skaith and the Os then managed the game well and neither goalie had to make a save of note.

Game 2 was against Eastwood Falcons yellow. Orient this time left Ridley on the bench and dominated possession. Cox slotted home an excellent low shot At half time Mullins took a rest Stevenson dropped into the back one and there seemed to be only a matter of time before another goal for the Reds. Oh fickle fate. A lucky ricochet saw the Eastwood striker get away. A speculative long distance toe poke wrong footed Weston and suddenly 1-1 which is how it finished.
Leyton Orient Reds 1-1 Eastwood Falcons Yellow (Cox)
The final game was the hurriedly arranged fixture against Harlow. Stevenson was rested and even though the previous match against them had finished 1-1 the reds again dominated. all aspects. Harlow were soon in non-walking trouble and sure enough there were four and Cox dispatched the ensuing penalty with aplomb. Barrick was benched at half time and the Os set out to see out the last ten minutes. Then disaster struck. Stevo was penalised for running, Harlow had a penalty and Weston had no chance. 1-1 again
