Disappointment In Herts

6 Aug by Trevor Ridley

On Sunday 20th July Leyton Orient Walking FC women set off for yet another round of games in the Herts LEague Premiership division.

This round of fixtures began well, with Orient beating Cheshunt Eagles, who are currently in second place in the League. Final score Cheshunt Eagles 0 v 1 Leyton Orient (Kavanagh).

Unfortunately, that was the pinnacle of the day. Against Hoddesdon despite creating chances, Orient failed to score, ending with a goalless draw. Final score: Leyton Orient 0 v 0 Hoddesdon.

Orient were even unluckier against their next opponents, Luton Town as Luton, yet again, nicked a goal. Final score: Leyton Orient 0 v 1 Luton Town.

Against Cheshunt Hawks, the game followed the same pattern as the Hoddesdon game. Final score: Leyton Orient 0 v 0 Cheshunt Hawks.

The final game was against the League leaders, Chesham. When Orient’s Lewzey unfortunately turned her ankle the referee allowed play to continue and Chesham scored. Final score: Leyton Orient 0 v 1 Chesham.

A day that began with expectation ended with disappointment.

Leyton Orient squad: Chris Williams (Gk), Andree Selner (Cpt), Ann Matthews, Clare Kavanagh, Clare Nwofor, Frances Handley, Debbie Lewzey, Lynda Dowling.

Manager. Sherrille Hyatt.

Goalscorers: Kavanagh.
