On a beautiful Father’s Day, 15th June, the fourth round of Herts League games took place. Leyton Orient Walking FC women currently sit third in the Premiership and are looking to pick up as many points as possible. Unfortunately, due to injuries and other commitments, the squad consisted of no recognised defenders. However, that did not detract from the confidence of those participating.

Orient’s first game was against Cheshunt Eagles who sat second and are the team Orient is trying to catch up to. Despite a valiant effort, Orient lost. Final score: Leyton Orient 0 v 1 Cheshunt Eagles.

Next up were Cheshunt Hawks. Orient were smarting from their narrow defeat in the first game. Orient played some excellent football to run out emphatic winners with goals from Kavanagh, assisted by Dowling; Handley, aided by Murray; and Guedalla, assisted by Dowling. Final score: Cheshunt Hawks 0 v 3 Leyton Orient (Kavanagh, Handley, Guedalla).

Orient’s third game of the day was against Football Fitness Phoenix. Despite being the better team, Orient struggled to find the net until a fantastic shot from Guedalla flew past the keeper. Final score: Football Fitness First 0 v 1 Leyton Orient (Guedalla).

The fourth game of the day for Orient was against Chesham who Orient had yet to beat Chesham and who also are top of the Premiership and defending Champions from last season. However, this was the day that luck favoured Orient. A back pass slipped through the keeper’s hands and into the net. Orient took the own goal and held on for the win. Final score: Chesham 0 v 1 Leyton Orient (OG).

Orient’s final game of the day was against Luton Town. For some reason, Orient struggle against Luton. Despite having more of the ball, Orient just could not score. Final score: Leyton Orient 0 v 0 Luton Town.
