Leyton Orient Freeze

13 Jan by Trevor Ridley

Leyton Orient Walking FC women’s team kicked off 2025 with a friendly against their friends, North London United. It was bitterly cold by the midday kick off time. Both teams had turned up with large squads and it was decided to play 7-a-side in a series of 20 minute games.

Orient won the first game comfortably by two goals to nil through goals from Handley and Baker.

In the second game, Orient had some clear chances but played out a goalless draw with Chris Williams saving a penalty.

By the last two games, Orient were behind losing both games to a solitary goal.

After play, Secretary Alison Kay commented, “Lots to work on, especially penalties as the team missed two! The games were excellently refereed by Tony Brooks. He was very strict on the four non-walking offences leading to a penalty. The Club thanks him for his excellent control of the games.”
