Slow Walk To Paddington

15 Aug by Trevor Ridley

Seventeen members of Leyton Orient Walking FC gathered for the annual club walk.

This year our expert guide, Tony Wahlhaus, led the group from Great Portland Street to the Paddington Basin. The squad gathered on time and, with a prompt start, headed for Regents Park via the Physic herb garden of the Royal College of Physicians and the John Nash terraces.

A thorough exploration of Regents Park included a scented walk through Queen Mary’s Rose Garden and then on to the Regent Canal, Little Venice and the newly rebuilt Paddington Basin area.

There were the occasional stops for Tony to delight the walkers with a short history of the area we were about to traverse. It was as ever very informative. For a number of group, it was the first time we had ventured west of London Zoo along the canal.

After the walk ended at Paddington Basin, some headed for a bar while others went on to enjoy the air conditioning on the Elizabeth Line.

A big thank you to Tony for organising the walk and the informative and knowledgable chats. Hope we can repeat again next year.
