At the Committee meeting on Monday 15th January, Neil Taylor from the Leyton Orient Trust reported on an invitation he had received from the Heart of Midlothian FC for the Club to play a walking football friendly as part of the commemoration event taking place between the two clubs on Saturday 13 July 2024. The Club will test out interest. See the posting in the Fixtures for more information and to RSVP.

The women’s team have now entered the Hertfordshire Women’s Walking Football League. The team are now in two leagues and will have a busy schedule through to July. The blue kit will be allocated to the women’s team as a spare kit and a new red kit purchased when the new Orient kits for 2024/2025 become available.

For the men, the Club have entered two teams into the Essex Walking Football League (EWFL) at the over 60s level. There will be seven teams entered into the EWFL. The Club will need to increase the match day subs for games at Billericay to £7 per league session to reflect the increased costs of using Billericay.

The EWFL has a new web-site designed by Trevor Ridley. All information about the League will be published on the web-site at https://www.essexwalkingfootball.com

The Club has also entered the WFLA, WFA and hopefully the FA Cup for both men and women’s teams. Games will be posted when they are organised.

Phil Stevenson and Mick Mullins have done a lot of work arranging the teams management structures for next season. A list will be published as a news item later in the week.

There are two vacancies; non-playing managers for the men’s over 60s and a non-playing manager for the women’s team. If interested please see Len Cheston.

The next meeting will be the AGM at the end of February, date and venue to be announced. The Club will be looking for volunteers to join the Committee.

Finally a reminder to members that selection for friendlies and tournaments is managed through the selection committee of Phil Stevenson, Mick Mullins and Adam Rohm.
